They happened to mention on the radio today, that a 1971 drop of plonk scored 98.5 points in a world wide competition, beating every other entrant.
Oh, yeah, there was that golf thingy in the USA too, and the Women's Cricket Ashes.......
Ring....ring...... "Hello, Ms Williams? Just wondering if you'd like to join the Australian tennis team?....."

You little beauty! I'll have a pint of
that. And Dan is CHEAP!
So the wine snobs like it. There's really no reason to drink that kind of nonsense. I doubt the fool who'd pay that much would enjoy it any more than I'd enjoy a $30 bottle, which is fully 30% above my usual limit. I guess if I had a taste I'd say "*Wwwww koff ow*", but IIRC you can get the same feeling distilling the juice from boiled potatoes*.
Madness!,Madness!*

*Same actor, different movie. It's quiiiiizzzzz time.

Being a mere peasant when it comes to fine wines I won't pay more than $20 CAN a bottle, mainly because I only use it for cooking!!
According to the expert review:
"Vintage 1971
A superb bottle in every way, living up to its fame 100% . Deep colour, fascinatingly complex
bouquet of smoked meats, leather, traces of raisins and squashed ants
and all sorts of things."
I don't think it's a taste I would appreciate!!!

VB: an intoxicating bouquet of carbon dioxide, alcohol, and hops.
Ticks all the boxes.
