Put my Foot In It!!

Post by Nigel H-J »

Went to my local chemist to pick up a prescription on Thursday but unfortunately it was not yet through, one member of staff said that they were running five days behind so I innocently replied "That is getting as bad as the post office".

I forgot that the post office now shares the same premises and the looks I got from behind the counter!!! :hide: :help: :wasntme:

Any-one else willing to share their experiences of "Wish I did not say that"!!

Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

Hi Nigel.

When i was Truck driving in Europe i got home on a Saturday and my wife said your car insurance was due last week so i rang them and they said we close at midday,

I jumped in the car and went in just in time, tore into the office and went up to the counter and said " i just phoned you about my car insurance who was the chap i just spoke to" this young lady said " that chap was me"! :hide:

I did feel awful and dug a hole for myself trying to get out of it.

Roger.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

This is one I heard on BBC 6 Music, hope it qualifies:

An engineer for British Gas went to a house to do an annual service on the central heating boiler, and afterwards accepted the offer of a cup of tea from the male homeowner. As they stood there making small talk, the engineer noticed a framed photo on the wall, and said ' So you're a darts fan, eh ? ' The puzzled homeowner replied that he had no interest in darts whatsoever, and wondered why the engineer said such a thing.

The engineer nodded at the photo and said 'Jocky Wilson there...'.

The homeowner paused for a moment and said ' That's my wife'.

No way out of that one.

Oh I have too many personal ones to draw from!

Most recent was last week when my boss and I were on a whistle stop tour of Europe for meetings with licensors for up and coming toys we work on. We were waiting outside a restaurant in Helsinki to meet with 5 people from our partner company, only one of them we knew visually so it was a bit of a blind date.

A blonde woman (well not surprisingly as this was Finland) pulled into an open parking space on the road one door down from the restaurant and parked up with her rear right wheel 2 foot on to the pavement. She got out and went across the other side of the street and I turned to my Boss and joked "haha fantastic parking"... only I said it a little too loud and she turned around and looked at me sheepishly and laughed too. She then came back across the road to our side, pulled out here phone to call someone and my phone rang....she was calling me as she was one of the people we were due to have dinner with! Haha, thankfully she had a fantastic sense of humour and we had a good laugh about it all. Could have been a lot worse!

Roger.......and having spoken to your wife, didn't she say: "You look more manly than your telephone voice!" ?
Cheers, Mike.
