This prompted me to look review the Amy Johnson story, and I read something I've never read before, about the circumstances of her death.

What's not to like. !
Kudos to her! I have to admit, I love to fly, absolutely!
But not so much to fly the trip in 3 months time!
Makes my butt hurt just to think about it....

As a slight aside, there is a splendid account kicking around somewhere on the internet , IIRC by a man called James Riddell ( ! !) who was the co-pilot in Nevil Shute's similar voyage in 1948/9 or thereabouts which illustrates very well the frustrations experienced on the ground , and the very primitive aids which were available at that time . Well worth a read if you can find it

I received a request to do a repaint of Tracey's Stearman, which I politely declined. Whilst I am sure that flying that distance is a great feat in itself, I do not think it any where near compares to Amy Johnson's achievement. Amy was solo all the way and not in constant formation with a Cessna Caravan full of support personnel and cameramen and unlike Tracey, had no-one else in the aircraft at any time. It was not as if Tracey could ever get lost with all that support team!
Just my opinion!
