I've liked a lot of his music, but obviously there'll be no new work from this star. R.I.P.

He was like Marmite, you loved him or hated him.
A great loss to music.

I've just woken up to this very sad news. I went to the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A in 2013, and even though I've known his music since my early teens, it really brought home to me just how innovative and creative he was. It may sound odd, but every time I hear Suffragette City, I think of Biggin Hill and my aircrew test-in-advance there at age 16. I'm glad he finished his final album, Blackstar, which is released this month.
RIP David.

Did not know he had died until reading this post, his music was different in many ways and have to say that I was not really a fan of it but nevertheless it is very sad to hear of his passing.
Just hope that one day cancer will be a thing of the past and claim no more lives.
Nigel.

We have lost a great and very innovative artist who reinvented himself many times. He certainly influenced others in music and art. and will be missed by many. His latest album, Blackstar, was released last Friday on his 69th birthday. Rest in Peace, David.

Totally shocked, yesterday to read of this news.
I think Nigelb's comments sum up Mr Bowies achievements and also echo those of the 'art experts' heard on TV news programs.
Whilst I never bought much of his material, I was always happy to hear it on radio and I've only just starting to appreciate what a huge loss in talent we have suffered.
RIP David. The contemporary music scene will be much poorer without you.

A sad loss, one of my all time favourite musicians. His Space Oddity album was one that sparked my interest in music, along with Electric Warrior by T.Rex. I still have both of them in pristine condition in my vinyl collection.
