Ah.. catapult, RN, for the use of Must have been an interesting launch sat in the Walrus!!
She had the cats removed mid-war and had AA guns instead. Plenty of battle honours for the old girl. She survived the war going for scrap in 1950.
An unusual artefact.

Re: One for the Navy chaps...
It was on HMS Norfolk 1932/4. The aircraft launched was a Fairey seaplane with seating for 3 or 4...don't know what the full name or Mark of the seaplane was but would be keen to find out

She carried Walrus seaplanes Peter, two of. As I said above, her cats were removed mid war in favour of AA guns.

If it was 1932/4 possibly a Fairey IIIF? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairey_III

Re: One for the Navy chaps...
Yes...I'm pretty sure you are right...it was the Fairy IIIF...I read Dick Pugh's document about the American Coast tour in that ship and IIIF rings a bell...Sadly the document is lost now, but Dick Pugh did all the flying on that tour and took the local mayor or other dignitary on each Launch...As you can see on the blotter, he did 64 catapult launches. And I remember from the document that the craning out and replace on the catapult Turnround, his crew got down to about 40 minutes. Dick Pugh was my wife's father.
