First sighting for me today of an A400M, crossing the Liverpool Zone at about 2000 feet. What was extraordinary was the noise from the frontal aspect. I could hear, but not see, it coming for about 3 miles. and it was a cross between a howl and a whooshing noise the like of which I have never heard before . To me it is the most extraordinary aeroplane since the TU114/95, with rather similar performance, but , let us hope, better reliability

Yes they are loud, where I live Devon we are in a low flying zone and get the A400M Atlas coming over, at least being loud it gives me time to get out of the house to see it.

Yesterday a Herc came over really low but I only saw it going,!

I <<-------Roger, is that the clanger I dropped yesterday? How did it get into your post? :dunno:
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Hi Mike,

Sorry Mike i just thought that i had put that in my post and saw it after i posted , so i did'nt bother to edit it out.

Going back to low flying these Hercules come over at times very low and i have had some great views of them at times but because they are quiet unless i am out side i do miss them, last week we had a Tornado come over the roof and by the time i got outside i got a view of black smoke and two exhaust,

We also get US Airforce F15 Eagles making a racket!!!

This is old as you can see with the Harrier still flying and i do think that although i am a good few miles away it does not take them long to get over to my area.

Enjoy.

Roger.
