Went down to Micro Services to see Martin who owns the shop and he pointed me to one of the shelves, on it stood a Saitek X55 Rhino although 2nd hand it is in perfect condition. My Logitech Joystick gave up in March after 8 years loyal service and I replaced it with the same make, had it been now I would have scraped the money up just to get this but now needing a SSD Drive I cannot afford it.

If any-one would like to buy it, it is going for £85 though you would have to come and collect as Martin does not want to post it. If interested his telephone number is:

Looks like a bargain for the money.

I've had a Rhino for a while and it's a well built and comfortable stick. The only issues I've had with it have been with the Saitek drivers/software. They would not install correctly in Win 7/64, the drivers went in but the installer never completed and closed and the programming software would allow you to build a profile for the buttons but the main icon to apply the profile to the stick remained inactive so you couldn't get the profile onto the stick! I tried all sorts of things to try to get it work (including checking with Saitek) to no avail.

In the end I bought the full version of FSUIPC and used that to program the buttons/axes but it doesn't see the 'mode' knob so I only have one 'mode' instead of three.

Having said all the above the HOTAS is a great piece of kit and I'm happy with it. I've had a X45 and two X52 units prior to this and also have the Saitek yoke so I've been with Saitek for a few years now.

That is encouraging to hear your findings Tako, so many people slam Saitek especially after Madcatz took over it seems. I may gravitate toward the X-55 if my trusty X-52 gives up after 11 years faithful service. Equally I have had no issue with my Saitek Pro panels nor my Saitek Cessna yoke. I like the company. Before that I had an x-45 which lasted many years too.

I wish I could pop by and pick it up. But it's a little far for me to get there. I just pre-ordered the X56, hope it's as good as the X55.
