Classic British Flight Sim

I've been reading up on this little bird, and really enjoy the immersive aspects. It seems to function just fine in my FSX Gold Edition/Win10 machine.

WHY oh WHY do both of my engines shut down, about 10 minutes after reaching cruise altitude??

The manual seems to offer no clues. I've got the fuel trimmed according to the chart, and the pumps on, to avoid fuel starvation.

What am I missing?

What is outside air temperature?
Have you got the engine ant ice on and at what setting?

Second that, I inadvertantly left them off at FL150 over the Scottish Highlands and they both ran down, managed to restart at lower level only after making sure the fuel heaters were on and relight selected.

Fuel heaters employed, and engine anti-ice on low. I'm doing mid-day Air North flights, where the outdoor ambient temperatures are not extreme. I was simply wondering why this aircraft seems so...unforgiving, for lack of a better word.

I feel your pain. I recently tried using the 748 in FSX and eventually gave up, more stability issues than the heater problem but the heater problem is real. I tried using the checklist panel and when on the ground it says you don't need the various heaters but once above 7k those blue check marks switch to a red 'X' and shortly after that, no engines. And good luck getting them started again.

Well.. the model is a good few years old now and Fraser wanted to add a greater degree of realism than was the 'norm' for the day. It takes very little time to master and will become natural in short order.

Should the OAT start approaching -21.. put the PUD's on high

Feeling much better after a successful flight completion. Power management was watched a bit more closely, and I must say that I am really warming to this aircraft. JF has a high bar to jump over, with their future payware offering.

I think the stumbling block with the 748 is that many users don't expect it to bite back. You can jump in the vast majority of similar models and fly the pants off them with little or no fear of them breaking so when this model DOES.. it's presumed there's something wrong with it.

It's a pity the transition from FS9 to FSX wasn't smoother for it but by and large.. she's still a grand old lady with a lot to give
