I really like this colour scheme (post-WWII RNZAF 1950’s silver), as it shows off the Mossie’s beautiful lines.

Lovely, really nice to see it in the air where it belongs though have to admit having a bit of concern when the gear was lowered as it appeared initially to just fall free and hang. Is that normal for gear retraction on the Mossie?

I'm not sure about that Nigel...I was also concerned about that and wondered if that is why they had positioned the GoPro camera where it was...Maybe they have had an issue with it. BTW I hated the FishEye camera and felt that it was spoiling the video a bit.

Dave, Yes I agree, the Mossie does look great in silver...I'm pretty sure I have seen it in silver in the RAF when they used some to tow flags for us at Sylt...I think they could carry three flags and had some system for streaming them one by one after dropping the used one on the pickup range. They later used the Tempest IV to tow our flags but that only carried one flag.

Yup.. big as the Tempest was, I can see why the Mossie was more suited to being a Jack of all Trades :thumbsup:

It probably is. With a heavy gear leg once the uplock is released the leg is pulled down by gravity initially and the pump struggles to get enough oil flowing towards the actuator. It may take a while to get the oil pressure up again and only then does the leg start to move again. On some types connecting lines mean that there may be a bit of a wiggle between the two gear legs as oil is drawn from one line by the other gear leg's freefall. You can see on the video that the left leg moves back and forth a bit before moving forward again. That is the point where oil pressure is starting to overcome the other forces (airflow and propwash shouldn't be discounted either) and will take the path of least resistance at first. Stuff like this is influenced by relative weights of the gear and friction values in the actuators.
