Link to my latest the Comper Kite - a two seat version of the Streak but with a Pobjoy up front.
Comments here please.
I've tested it in its native FS9 & also in FSX sp2 & FSXA.
Thanks in advance
Keith

Re: Fly my KITE - BETA testers please
OK Keith,
Firstly, thank you for this model.
I used FSX.
Not the prettiest aeroplane in town, but it does what it says on the box.
Very shiny engine cowl, reflects everything!
I like the in-cockpit vibration while the engine is running.
Again intrigued by those 1930s instruments.
Lots of smoke on start up. Wooohoo!
Took off from Denham and flew around for ten minutes or so.
Struggles to get up speed until you remember to crank up the undercarriage.
Once under way, it does just what the placard says, cruising at 130+ at 3000RPM. Unsure whether I hit some wind gusts, but I had two rather noticeable wobbles when cruising hands & feet off.
Trim lever worked fine, but couldn't really understand the pop-up trim box; is it just to indicate present state, or supposed to be adjustable from that little box
Interesting engine sound, though I've no idea what the real Pobjoy sounded like tbh.
Appears to perform as expected, not too aerobatic.
I used the tailhook control, and only the front cockpit door opens; bashing some other keys,(including CTRL + R) the pilot's door starts to open, then slams shut. Couldn't get that rear door open at all after that.
The restricted view and lack of flaps made my first landing a hair raising experience, landed parallel to the runway, but no cigar!
I didn't break it though. Taxied over to the bowser, finding that the rudder is easier to control turns than differential brakes, which appeared to stop the beast completely. Fairly high RPM needed to keep moving on the ground.
Anyway, to prove that it's still in one piece, here's me at the bowser:

Re: Fly my KITE - BETA testers please
Mike,
Thank you for your fast response.
Engine vibration - funny not intended & I do not have it on either my main tower or my laptop. Possibly a bad set of MoI values?
Engine sound is from Gary Jones & supposedly from a Swift.
The cowl & the bulges are a Pobjoy design, with the front ring chrome plated.
Trim lever pop-up, yes I can adjust the trim using it, e.g. if wanting nose down then place cursor on the down side of the lever & then click or use wheel. I find it easier to use than my joystick click which is more coarse per click than the pop-up.
I had to use the tailhook command for the front hatch because I could not get the SHIFT+E+2 to work. The aft hatch works for me with SHIFT+E - the standard door open/close.
Toe brakes work better with rudder at slow speed, not very well if going fast!
It will loop & roll, but you need to be at max & have plenty of space under you!
There is a camera view in FSX that lets you look over the LHS, in FS9 you can press Num Pad 5.

Works OK in P3D except for panel click spots on white card on VC panel. They work OK in 2D panel. They work OK with Function Keys though. Not your problem as this is a normal problem with P3D on some models.
Had a nice flight from Old Warden to Duxford and arrived as a Spitfire and Hurricane were about to take off.
Handles well and I did manage a loop and a sloooow roll. The take off at Old Warden was close, just cleared the fence
Shift-Q for front door and Shift-E for rear door work fine.
Engine vibration is a nice touch.
Very nice to fly and will be one that I will use for sight seeing.
Well Done

Re: Fly my KITE - BETA testers please
John,
Thank you for your feedback, always welcome.
Still interested in the engine vibration though, because it's unintentional & could need the Roll MOI increasing. Unfortunately I cannot replicate it on my desktop or laptop! I do not have P3D either.

Re: Fly my KITE - BETA testers please
OK found the engine vibration cure in FS9 - either make sure your fps is 40 fps or greater or increase the Yaw MOI to 500. Cannot replicate in FSX, so hopefully the Yaw MOI increase will have same effect.
Thanks again for all comments, will upload (with a couple of minor mods ( MOI increase & decrease prop thrust effect on elevator at take off) to Flightsim this p.m. so should be available in a day or so.
Onwards & upwards with the Mouse......

Keith,
I don't want to get rid of the vibe!
I'll be be leaving mine as is.
I only noticed it when I was next to the bowser, and had a close fixed point of reference.
Great work, Keith, and thanks again.
