Darwin to Bali...

This is my RTW leg 5. All these pictures look best when click to the bigger size:_

Image
Having left Darwin there is a bit of a crossing the Timor Sea before any land comes into sight.

Image
GPS shows where I am with 4hrs 13 mins to go...the biggish island ahead on the right is Timor.

Image
I spend these longish crossings learing a bit more about this lovely cockpit.

Image
Here's a shot of Ernie and me...I'm busy and he is loafing!

Image
The weather is a bit patchy with the occasional rain shower...

Image
Then sometimes cloudless...I've settled on this position for GPS and that strip of useful bits...I've clipped off the sixth little window in the strip.

Image
And I've zoomed back from the default landing view...The approaching land is the Western end of Timor.

Image
Here I am about to cross in over the coast of Timor.

Image
Having crossed the Savu Sea this island is Sumba...All this landclass is Orbx Global.

Image
I find the little Radio Altimeter useful when crossing islands but sadly I forgot to take a picture of it.

Image
Well, I'm coming to the end of Sumba with 2hrs 35mins to go...I'm fortunate to have a tailwind all the way and the G/S is 188kts at the moment.

Image
This island is Sumbawa.

Image
And I'm assuming that its Landclass is all Orbx Global...Looks pretty nice!

Image
I think this is the next island along and if so it is Lombok with the next being Bali.

Image
Maybe that is still the...

Image
...previous island

Image
I think this might be Lombok...

Image
Well it must have been because here I am on the ground...

Image
...on Bali...I came straight in on the ILS of RW 27, discovering that there is working auto-throttle and you can dial the speed like a Trident...

Image
...and was vectored to this stand...I love this aeroplane!

Thanks for looking...my next stop is Changi, Singapore.

Hello Peter, great pictures again and thoroughly enjoyed looking at them. As for your co-pilot loafing around I would get him to go and get the tea and sticky buns.

I guess it will be a few days rest before your next leg to Changi BTW, were the girls with grass skirts there to welcome you on your arrival? ;)

Regards
Nigel.

No girls in grass skirts Nigel...Not even sure if that is the right Bali for that sort of thing! However, it seems a nice airport (just the default P3D one) with an ILS that is offset about 5 or six degrees to avoid over flying something...That is for RW27 but the RW09 just has a VOR and an ADF approach. Anyway, I enjoyed the flight and the real weather seems to work well. Now that I have left Australia, I would like to get some Traffic for the rest of my RTW but I'm not sure what to get.
