PrePar3D install Error.

Hello Gents
I installed PrePar3D V3 into a folder I created on a separate Partition .
I named it Program Filesx86 (Same as what is on the C: drive)
When I installed the program I was thinking it would notify me that the necessary folder for prepar wasn't located and create one for me ..Well it didn't
So the Programs Folder x86 is my prepare folder ..
can anyone ((Please)) help me move the files and whatnot into the correct root folder like So I won't have any Errors when I run the sim or install addons
E:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3
I haven't changed a thing yet I'm afraid I'll mess it all up and it won't start up
Thank You
Dummy

I'd just uninstall it and re-install where you want it.
Otherwise you'd have to muck about in the registry, which could get messy.

Dave is right it is best to uninstall it then put it where you want. Mine is in a separate ssd partition as follows;
D:\Lockheed Martin|Prepar3dv3 which I set up before the install, then you can browse to it to select it during install.

Hi Joe, unfortunately at my age the grey matter is not able to help regarding the registry however as others who have replied I would go for an uninstall then re-install. It does mean extra work put in the end you will have it all sorted.
I only run FSX but what I would do is just add a New Folder to the drive you will be installing it and as Nev wrote re-name it Name of Drive i.e. C or F which ever you are going to use. ?:\Lockheed Martin|Prepar3dv3
Best o' luck
Nigel.

Gents,
I was able to move the folders & files of prepar3d ... And it works fine.
On my desktop I created a new folder and named it Lockheed Martin
Next step
I created a new folder in the Lockheed Martin folder and named it Prepar3dv3
Next Step
I copied the Lockheed Martin folder and pasted a copy into my program files (x86) folder (located on a second partition)
The folder was placed automatically in alphabetical order
Next Step
I moved all the folders and files into the Perpard3dv3 folder.
But the fonts folders would not move
I got an error message that the folder was installed in another program.??

So I Copied the fonts folder and pasted it into the Prepar3D folder.
Next Step
I deleted the original prepar3d shortcut placed on the desktop.
Then I made a new shortcut of the prepar3d application exe. And placed it on the desktop.
Then I clicked on the new shortcut on the desktop and prepar3d started up and ran fine.
No problem..
I've run all of my add-on A/C .. everything is starting up ok.

Hi Joe, glad to hear that you finally sorted it out, you certainly took a brave plunge there. Knowing me, if I tried that it would have all screwed up!
Regards
Nigel.

You'll probably find that when you install a new addon the installer will look in the registry for P3d and find the old location.

Hold the accolades, Nigel ... I'm not out of the wood yet

The thought had crossed my mind Dave, also, if the the uninstaller would be looking in the old location.
I reasoned the later could be fixed by moving the files back... But then If it goes titsup I reckon can fix it all with Effoh's hammer...

..

FTX Central is still crashing .. I'll look for another add-on with a auto-installer... But then, being I have p3d on a separate hhd partition I have to specify the path anyway..
Which begs my next question... Why doesn't FTX central ask.. oh well , it's not installing itself to p3d.. just a regular program into the program files(x86) location.

or should I just go take my dash panel out if the van and fix the turn signal switch, repwace vent louvers the shifter boot, and horn cover...

after I disarm the airbag probably, of course ...

Joe, I think your best route would be to Uninstall...Then delete any left behind folders then run Ccleaner, including the Registry portion. Then if you are running Windows10 run any smart scan that your anti-virus provides...Mine is Avast and it does a good job.
Then run the installer of P3D v3 again...it will show you where it is installing...C:/Program Files/Lockheed Martin/P3Dv3...Just place your cursor behind the C and Backspace it out and replace it with the drive letter where you wish to save it...Don't muck it about, just accept the folder structure.
Reinstall FTX Central 3...You badly need that as it installs everything you need and gets it right...I find it an excellent and well made piece of software...Run it every few days and it will always advise you of anything that needs updating and it will do it all for you faultlessly.
