Triple to end Spring

Hi all
This is the last day of Spring Downunder.
1. Yesterday was our 47th Wedding Anniversary.
2. Yesterday I received acceptance of my $180 offer for a working Avro Lancaster radio listed on Ebay for $300. Bit of a shock, now all I have to do is pay for it!
3. Yesterday, my favourite friendly hen hatched three eggs.
This morning, I left a plate of water for her and the chicks, came in for coffee before putting them in the isolation cage.
After coffee, I found a few of her feathers; a fox had sneaked in and taken her.
Put the chicks & eggs under a heat lamp, and two more hatched. If they see out the night, we'll be trying to teach 5 chicks how to survive in the world.

Oh dear Mike,
sorry to hear about your hen but I'm sure the kids will show the resilience that youngsters seem able to muster.
Something about Spring you reckon? Last night me and the missus had a meal at a Chinese restaurant. Her fortune cookie said "you are about to go on a great journey" and mine said "your fortunes will receive a boost". The first gave us a laugh as we're flying to Hong Kong for a week on Friday and then on to the Old Dart for Christmas. I thought nothing of mine until I got a promotion today, completely out of the blue.
My favourite fortune cookie (that I still carry in my wallet) says "The fortune you seek is in another cookie". Bit like
this really
Best wishes for 2017 to you and the missus and all the other chaps who hang out here.
Paul

There's an old saying that everything comes in threes' and by gum it certainly has for you!
Happy 47th Anniversary to you and your wife.
Now that you are getting a working Lancaster Radio, when will you get the rest of the aircraft?
Sorry to hear about your hen, very sad and annoying when a fox does that especially so soon after having chicks!

Hope you post some pictures of them, always think that they are so cute when they are young.
Regards
Nigel.

I was surprised to hear you have foxes. Was that something introduced in the same way as rabbits or are they indigenous?

Sorry to hear about your hen running off with the fox, one bad thing in an otherwise great season.

Alex,
They were introduced. Some places have a bounty on them, others do nothing.
There was a report on TV this week, saying that they've spent $50million in Tasmania on fox eradication, and they are not even sure that there are any there!!
They've been doing DNA tests etc to see whether folks are bringing carcasses over from the mainland, along with scats to try and keep the programme running.
There's also been talk that someone released some mainland foxes there, to give themselves a job, hunting them.

Mike, congrats on your wedding anniversary and bagging that radio, condolences for the loss of the hen. Hey, I'll take half of that $50 million to look for foxes, even if they are Aussie dollars.
Paul, congrats on your promotion.
