"DRIVER" ??

I've always been mystified by the Mudhen Driver, but let it wander the corridors of my mind. It seems to be a Strike Eagle, but what are these odd names?
When I was looking at IRIS for Hobby, I tripped over a Raptor Driver This has piqued my interest more, because when I search "Driver aircraft/jet/whatever" the only aircraft that come up are the above.
Can anybody explain the expression to me please?

I thought Raptor Driver was something to do with graphic cards!

"Driver" is just the term Iris used for their range of Military jets.
"Mudhen" is a slang term for the Strike Eagle.

It's a US tongue-in-cheek thing among pilots. I think it originated from the media being idiots (as usual) when it comes to anything not a car. Hell, they call train engineers "train drivers" all the time too.
I can think of a few other "drivers" and other nicknames in common use -
"Limo Driver" = Corporate Jet Pilot
"Trash Hauler" = Cargo Pilot (Civil or Military)
"Bus Driver" = Airline Pilot
"Sled Driver" = SR-71 pilot (only called that by non-SR pilots, SR guys call themselves simply "Habu")
"xxx Driver" = Military pilot of xxx type, ex. "Mud Hen" (F-15E), "Bone" (B-1B), "BUFF" (B-52), "Viper" (F-16), "Hog" (A-10), "Bug/SuperBug" (F/A-18)
"Tin Pusher" = Air Traffic Controller
