Hoping someone can advise me regarding Windows Movie Maker. Downloaded it recently but found that it was a trial version and when I went to save a video clip it came up with purchase now or something similar, I had downloaded from the Windows Site but do not want to pay for it as the previous one I had was free.

Is there a site where you can download the older version of Movie Maker or is it that Microsoft is finding more ways to grab your money?

Regards
Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

You are right, Microsoft want money from you. I have tried most of them (including the free ones) but liked Adobe Premier Pro (have to pay monthly now on subscription so therefore cancelled) and Pinnacle Studio 20, which I currently use.

For a top of the range video editing suite that is free try Davinci Resolve https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... nciresolve. It's a steep learning curve but the pros use it. Or there is Hitfilm 3 Express also free that has good write-ups.

There is still alot of sentiment for Apple's Final Cut Pro but you need a Mac for that one.

Good luck!

Nev

Actually, if you do get a Mac, iMovie is included for free. I have used that a few times and got some nice results. But I guess you'd rather stay on a Windows platform.

Hi Nev and many thanks, presently on the laptop but will download it tomorrow when back on my PC. I tried to download the older version of Movie Maker but to install it I had to also download other MS add-ons such as writer, MS Mail etc. Once all that was on it did not install Movie Maker and as the add-ons were not in the add-remove programmes I had an awful time getting rid of them, in fact I just deleted the folders then used CCLeaner for the registry. I used recovery also but that failed to boot them out.

Again, many thanks.

Hi Archer, unfortunately I won't be going the Mac route but thanks for the HU.

Regards
Nigel.

Hi Nev, just to let you know downloaded Davinci Resolve this afternoon and spent some time trying it out, in fact a looong time reading the manual to try it out!

Think you really need a BTEC or higher to become proficient in its' use but it's highly addictive. So many variables to use but an extremely good video editor to say the least.

Many thanks again.

Nigel.
