I remember, as a child, paying scant attention to the news bulletins on Aden. Today I could not tell you what it was all about, haven't a clue. Seems to have all been a giant waste of time, effort and lives. I do recall much amusement about one particular senior officer "Mad Mitch" Somethingorother. Again why .... I have no idea.

Thanks Peter, it brought back memories of my tour in 66/67.
Could almost smell the dust and sh1t in the air up country at Habilayn. Remember my first landing in a Beverly and wondering if it would stop before the runway ended in the mountain rocks - a serious buttock clencher.............
Also sad memories of the friends I left there in the sands of Little Aden cemetery.

I was hoping to catch a sighting of XE609 "Echo", which was my Hunter FGA9 on 208 Squadron...When I went home in 1961 (4 years before that video) "Echo" was eventually transferred to 8 Squadron...By this time 8 Squadron AND 208 Squadron were in Aden. Sadly in about 1966 "Echo" caught fire on the ground at Khormaksar and was written off
