I've just read of this on the BBC News website. Initial thoughts on reading of an aircraft crashing into a Shopping Centre, tend towards a terrorist attack but this appears not to be the case.
My thoughts go to those involved and their families. A very sad day :'(

Mike - why is it "Another Awful Event" - what others have there been recently?

Kevin - why throw in the terrorist card, and then say it doesn't apply?

Let's all forget the speculation, and wait for reports from the qualified authorities.

A terrible tragedy. Condolences to the families involved. It's fortunate that, according to news reports, no one on the ground has been killed or injured.EricT

Sorry, Mike - I must admit that had slipped my mind. I remembered it this morning in a discussion about how the local media are already working to smear the pilot, just as they did after the Grumman crash. :(

Quite simply, I read a 'breaking news' article on the BBC website that stated in a single line 'plane crashes into Melbourne shopping centre'. My immediate thoughts were 'please don't let this be a terror attack'.
Later, I read Mike's link giving much more information and realised that a terror situation was not the cause.

That's what I thought you meant, Kevin. :agree:
Even if the engine had been sabotaged, it's very different to a deliberate ramming of a shopping centre.
Maybe MikeW is feeling grumpy because of the heat? Share it with us, Mike, perhaps we can lighten your load. ;)
