Well, I'm glad that our politicians are addressing the important issues.
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=fema ... oS2bylscEM:
WTF is next?
That hemline depicts us women as last century;
Red & green are SO last season, we want a grey "stop" picture, and violet for "go"
What about us women who wear slacks and business suits, give us a fair share.

There is another version:
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=fema ... KNHBGT8UMM:
You'd think they'd get some better looking girls to pose for the picture.

(oooh! is that sexist?)

You're not alone my friend.

She's a peach.

The sign, on the other hand, looks a bit like Mary Poppins.

The picture on the first sign and is to commemorate a specific person, and was installed a year ago. It's not a specifically "equality" thing.
The silhouette of Victoria's first female councillor, Mary Rogers, will replace the little green man walking signal at a major intersection in Richmond, as part of a tribute by the City of Yarra.
Ms Rogers, first elected to office in 1920, spearheaded a number of causes during her time, including initiating the state's first maternal and child health service.

well the crossdressers are sure to like them too...
since when did a stick person indicate gender... It's a person in stick form, and that's all there is to it.
It's and indicator to walk, or don't walk for crying out loud..
you know,

there was some ,...obviously very confused "person", who tried to get a judge in Colorado who rule '...

IT was neither ...

It's a sign that we're very multicultural, don'tcha know?
When I first came here, they read:
WALK
and
DON'T WALK
Not only that, some of the "traffic lights" were like clock faces with red, amber and green sections, to which a rotating hand pointed.
Now, we have people who supposedly can't read WALK and DON'T WALK.
Whether this is catering for the two foreigners each year, who can't actually read English better than we do, or for the current school kids, who seem to be spectacularly failing to make the grade, I can't answer.
Whatever, we have icons. When they first appeared, I had to wonder what P1 meant. Now I know it means that if you park there for over an hour, you get a fine.
