Two train trips through the snow.

This first HD video, about 38 minutes long, is on what is known as the Flam line in Norway. The wintry scenery is spectacular, as is the engineering that must have gone into building such a railway. The tunnels get a bit claustrophobic, but that adds to the sense of being there.

This second video is taken from the driver's cab on the railway line to Bergen in Norway, again in deep winter. Two hours long - once you start watching, it's difficult to drag yourself away from it. About 15 minutes in, the snow is deep enough that the track is no longer visible - a bit disconcerting to say the least. :worried:

Grab your favourite tipple, put on your favourite tunes, and watch full screen.

Blimey! The latest Train Sim is getting quite realistic and here's me still on Version 2. :hide:

  Nice if it was a sim - I'd buy all the add-ons going. I found myself wanting to pan the camera to see a bit more of the countryside.

She has done a number of videos. Here's another short one. Once she turns the wiper off, it's like being aboard a cross-country bobsleigh!

I subbed to that channel a couple of years ago Paul, recently I've found similar cab ride vids from Vietnam, I think it's fascinating to see how people live in other countries.

Dashcams are everywhere these days. I was expecting to see a crash on a level crossing :dunno:

Some great videos chaps ! What's not to like about trains ? ;)

Robbie, I've yet to watch that one all the way through, but it's interesting because it is nothing like the way I imagine Hanoi to be. Perhaps I've been reading too many books about the war, Rolling Thunder and the French era etc. Thanks for that. :)

Joe, that's a SNOWPLOUGH! Almost scary to watch it approaching !

Brian, that's the way to travel. I remember proper restaurant cars on British Rail - okay, not in the same league as the Orient Express, but it was very civilized to sit there, silver service full English breakfast and watching the countryside roll by. You can scarcely get a cup of tea these days, and when you do, its a styrofoam cup with the teabag string dangling out ( for your convenience of course. Have a, like, awesome customer experience, like. 8) )

My younger daughter is currently touring New Zealand's south island, and took a trip on this:
