Well I got to Antwerp in the end. Not much to do with aeroplanes, but this is E&Ss, so...

Can highly recommend this city... and the chocolate. And that's coming from someone who lives in Switzerland B-)

How I should have got there (still waiting to see if I can get a refund, either from the credit card company or the liquidators of VLM):

Great pics as usual Toby. My personal favourite is number 8, the contre jour shot of the people at the outdoor tables. In fact I took a couple myself today on a beautiful autumn day in Edinburgh. EricT

Thanks for the comments guys - Eric, do you upload yours anywhere? I've never been to Edinburgh, would be interesting to see.

Toby I used to upload photos to Photobucket but stopped when they wanted to start charging linking to sites such as this. My avatar disappeared for a while but reappeared some time later. Maybe they’ve changed their policy but I haven’t really checked. :) EricT

They have changed their policy. I can now see my old Photobucket pics on this forum. :-O

Beautiful place, making me yearn for architecture with some permanence & history. Something in short supply here.

Thanks Toby!
Sorry that you had ticket problems. :(
Fortunately I've had no such problems. Unfortunately that's because I haven't been anywhere.
Yes, that architecture is really something!
We've been watching documentaries about ancient Italy. They used some fancy rock and concrete - penetrating 3D scanner. The Romans had concrete that could set under water. :-O
The underground aquaducts and buried buildings are astonishing. Some of it was BC! Last night was focused on Venice, some of the construction dating from 1300s IIRC. What they achieved without today's construction cranes was truly impressive.
That's a very ominous looking sky in pic 20! :worried:
