Interesting aircraft isn't it? Similar role to the Lysander but very different in looks.

Saw one(actually it's French built equivalent) display at RAF Cosford some years ago.
It flew so slowly that if you couldn't have heard it's engine you'd have sworn the pilot was pedalling it.

I saw an Argus-engined Storch at the (now closed) Fantasy of Flight museum in Polk City, FL back in 2012. Your description is 100% spot on. There was a very wind on the day of my visit, but the Storch nonetheless appeared to be motionless when turning upwind. I honestly thought I was going to see a stall/flaming crash until I saw her actually configure for landing...at which point she did her best imitation of a hummingbird...with what appeared to be plenty of control authority left in reserve. It was an astounding machine, and much larger in-person that I ever anticipated.Saw one(actually it's French built equivalent) display at RAF Cosford some years ago.

Many moons ago I attended an airshow where a Storch raced a woman on a horse. The race consisted of a straight run to a barrel, and then straight back to the starting point. The Storch was faster in the straights, but the woman on the horse could definitely turn tighter around the barrel. The Storch won the race but not by much.

Well, yes, but the Storch could do at least one leg backwards, with a fair breeze downwind...
