New install problem

Just installed FS9 on a new (refurbished machine) and I'm getting 'Please login with administrator privileges and try again'. This happened a couple of weeks ago so I uninstalled and tried again today. Any ideas anyone?

Do you have a problem with giving yourself admin privileges, Paul, or do you already have them, and still getting the query?

I'm sure I already have them. How would I find out?

Hi Paul, go into your FS9 folder and scroll down to the FS9 start icon (not your shortcut on the desktop) right click it then select Run as Administrator. Once done then delete your desktop shortcut and replace it.

Should work.

Regards
Nigel.

Hello Nigel. Tried that but it's made no difference I'm afraid.

I have Windows7, similar path for other versions of Windows:
Go to CONTROL PANEL.
User accounts
Add or modify
Make sure the Administrator button is highlighted.
Good luck, Paul!
IIRC, I've had programmes tell me that I didn't have authority to run them, and I just hit OK, and they ran anyway. Has FS actually refused to run?

Tried that also Airspeed. FS9 just refuses to work. Mystified.

If you are using Win7 or later, UAC (User Access Control) is stopping you from doing what you want to do with your own computer.
First of all, make a thorough uninstall of your FS9. Use the uninstall option built in to your FS9, don't just delete the folder.
Having done that, open Windows Explorer and navigate to your C:\ drive.
Right click on that and from the drop-down menu select New Folder. Hit Enter and rename the new folder to FS9, or whatever you like.
Start a new install, but direct it to your new folder, to keep it out of the 'Program Files' areas.
Because it will be outside the system files area, UAC will not object to you changing things.
I thought, after all these years, this would be common knowledge.

Thanks for the help chaps but unfortunately 1. I don't have the update listed as being the culprit and 2. Tried saving to a folder outside Program Files and that's not worked either. Time to give up I think?
