Guy Martin's Merlin

I recently came across this video by Guy Martin.
Anyone who's seen Guy on TV will be aware that he's never happy with things at 'stock' settings. For him it has to be faster, more powerful, noisier and more dangerous.
Here, he's bought himself a working RR Merlin engine. Not happy with the revs limited to 1800 RPM he's meddled with the rev limiter and pushed it to 2800 RPM. His description of the mayhem that ensued is hilarious.
Although much damage was done, no one was hurt and the RR Merlin seems to have survived.

Engine sounds great, I don't think Guy will be able to hear it much longer, standing so close without ear protection. :worried:
Is there an English language version, Kevin?

Sorry, I think it's only available in Mancunian. He does talk fast as well.

When I watch Guy's programmes, I always have the subtitles on. Pity none were available for this.

:dunno:

There are subtitles available. Hover your cursor over the video and 5 little icons will appear in the lower right corner. Click on the the first of these (looks like a box with some morse code in it) and this will turn on subtitles.
They are auto generated so what the software will make of Guy's accent is anyone guess.

I just can’t take to him. I’m sure he’s a very nice bloke but I find his staccato bursts of verbal output somewhat like a German MG42. I think the media see him as a replacement for the late Fred Dibnah. :S
