Hi Chaps,

The server and forum software have been upgraded. It seems OK, but if you could let me know here if there are any funnies.

Thanks :cpu:

Cheers DG. The version of PHP has changed and this sometimes throws up errors, particularly in any modifications DM made for the VA, but I think it’s still working.

Only difference I've noticed is the message saying the website uses cookies, that's all.

Don't know about the forum but has anybody taken a look at the routes page lately?

Type in anything specific to look for a route and you get some of the following:-

Cheers for that. That’s the sort of thing I was thinking might happen. I’m not a coder, but I’ll see if I can work out what it needs to be changed to. Might take a while unless DM pops up.

Looks like those are just PHP notices, you can probably fix it by going into your php.ini file and setting

display_errors = Off

On one system I run it was in the folder /etc/php/7.0/apache2

Then just restart apache

Cheers Joe. I’ll have a look at that. I think it’s that some of the verbs have been deprecated in 7.3, so they now generate errors (which as you say, Apache is displaying.) if I can’t work out the new syntax I might just switch the errors off as you say. Appreciate the help.

Hi All,

Me again. So, as i mentioned, I upgraded various bits the other day. All good. However there is a core component, that even though I have patched as far as I can within the confines of the hosting package from Heart Internet, it still has several vulnerabilities. I have asked If these can be upgraded and the answer was not unless I move to a new server.
That's a lot of work and the newest server version they have is still 3 years old and due to go end of life next year.

So, in the interest of longevity, and as I'm going to have to move servers anyway, I'll be changing the hosting provider over the coming months. I don't have a plan as such yet, but I'll keep this thread updated.

Suffice to say if you do try to log in at some point over the coming months and the site seems to be down, fear not, its likely me trying to move things.

Ben

Our PMs were cut short by a antivirus false alarm which caused Avira - which I was trialling - to arbitrarily change my log on details. I have had to re-register as buggyman2 to get in but cannot access by old stuff or send PMs. Have asked for help but nothing yet from Admin.

Is it possible for me to get back to my old account?

Avira has been ditched, it was championed by Which? as the best freeware anti virus albeit 'very prone to false positives' and they weren't kidding.

Any help would be appreciated.
