I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
Re: Happy Birthday Vancouver, Memories of DaveB
65 here in Canada yes, 66 in the UK which is where I will be getting my main pension from next year . But I will get a (very) small amount from Canada based on the amount of time I have lived here (15 years). How the powers that be expect folk to survive on an OAP is astounding.chrispbits wrote: ↑03 Apr 2020, 10:56Happy birthday Alex. 65 - is that still the current state pension age?
Interesting point - the Canadian authorities last year sought me out and pointed out my eligibility and how much I am entitled to and how I want it paid. UK not so much I have to track them down 6 months before it is due and beg fro what is due.
Another factoid unrelated which seems not to be getting any press traction yet, but sums up Britain these days. These appeals in the UK for retired police officers to rejoin to assist with the epidemic (pension suspended of course), the Met police have been sending out letters to those eligible (up to 5 years after retirement) they have cocked it up by getting addresses correct but somehow then names are in many case totally wrong.
Draw your own conclusions. Apparently another outsourced agency dealing with this.
