Virgin Australia

You didn't know we had any?
I'm talking about the airline, which asked for a government loan of AU$1.4 billion.
Scott Morrison apparently coughed in their faces, and said: "Computer says: 'NO' "
Gov. apparently feels that commercial interests should buy into the airline, it's not for Gov. to buy, and they don't want to favour individual companies, despite many voices expressing the necessity of maintaining local competition for QANTAS.
Still, I can see their point......

BIG JOKE: "Virgin Australia" - Ownership China 40% Singapore Airlines 20% Etihad 20% Branson 10%

They are now in voluntary administration.
I must modify my home page to include their logo in case it becomes history.

If China has such a lot of investment in Virgin Australia then they can lend the money to keep it afloat, for it is they who started the Coronavirus in which the whole world is now practically in lock-down and still no sign of an apology so it is a one fingered gesture to that communist regime!!

I love these "celebrity" company owners who never want to take a hit themselves but insist they taxpayer step up. Victoria Beckham is another one wingeing about wanting a bail-out for her fashion 'empire'. Probably more out there.

Here's an update, 13th May 2020.
They always do weird stuff in Queensland:
ABC News
Queensland Government moves to buy stake in Virgin Australia

By Josh Bavas and Rachel Riga
The state-owned Queensland Investment Corporation will make an official bid for a stake in Virgin Australia after the airline went into voluntary administration last month amid tough coronavirus travel restrictions.
