During this evening's homeward bound traffic, Police apparently pulled over a Porsche.
While they were stationary, a semi-trailer ploughed into them. :'(
No further details released just yet.

My heart sinks.

Bad week what with the Nova Scotia incident and yesterday, England, a Motor cycle officer killed in a pursuit.

Like the medics, the Police have to put up with a lot of awful stuff. Hats off to them.

We have a law here, that if you see red & blue flashing lights on the road, slow to 40kmh until you are well past the scene. Apart from normal safety concerns, there may be disoriented drivers and passengers wandering about in shock.
The Porsche driver had failed a drug test, so the lights must have been obvious to any driver over a huge distance for at least several minutes.
The truck should have been forced to slow on account of slow traffic ahead of it, so how it was doing the apparent 100kmh is baffling.
Does it mean that many selfish b###s ignored the law? I despair.

EDIT: The truck veered across several lanes before impact. The truck driver is under Police guard in hospital, drug and alcohol tests done.
The Porsche driver walked off when the Policewoman and three Policemen died, but he took time out to photograph the carnage and post his trophies on the internet. He is now in custody.

RIP all four of you. In the same week we lost another in South Yorkshire as well as another being seriously injured in Gwent. Brings it right home.

When I worked on the cars I always said it would be the M1 that killed me, not a maniac. Although the latter is now more common this brings home just how dangerous it can be.

Thoughts with the families.
