And resulted in the World's first ejection in ? late 1949 as a result of which the prototype was lost . Fascinating film which I've never seen before

I read that after he ejected, it levelled out and landed of its own accord in a field with little damage.

Be careful ..It was the first British pilot for an emergency ejection using an UK seat. The first emergency was from a Heinkel 280(?) in '43.
