Observer's badge, anyone?

It's a whole new (financial) year; time to resume spotter tests, lads and lassies.
I'll experiment with them on non-birthday days, to gauge the interest.
Rather than silhouettes, we'll kick off with a photo.
It looks like a, a, yes, one of those - I think.
You'll need
details to score points though.

It's a fairly grainy photograph taken on what looks like a gloomy winter's day but difficult to tell because it's in black and white. There's a fairly sparse copse or line of trees in the background with what might be a small structure on it's left hand edge. And where that was taken is either overrun by rabbits or someone is very handy with a lawnmower.

I forgot to add that we would be able to see the tree line better if somebody hadn't stuck a Bristol Beaufighter Mk.V in front of it.

Well pounced, Dave!
Initially a MkIIF, Merlin powered, 4 x .303s mounted in the dorsal turret.
Re-designated MkV, but never went into production.
The MkIIB was fitted with RR Griffons and 4 blade props.
The MkX, which we remember from the Airfix days, was actually the slowest and had the lowest service ceiling of the variants.
A photo of another MkII follows. The MkII flew faster and higher than any other Mk.
For the data and photos, I give full credit to
Aeroplane magazine, August 2003.
Chris, Excellent
detail scores you 20 points, humour, an extra 20, and a bonus 20 for mentioning the MkV...
that all adds up to more points than I have on my fingers and toes, but sadly, zero badges.

Surely points mean badges Mike? Can I have a SU Badge or SUB for short? I've leave you to fill in the meaning of SU
.

We might fly under that bridge if and when we get there, Joe.

Were you thinking along these lines, Chris?
Apologies to Graham for stealing his image.

Do you recognise this place, Joe?
