Beware!

Most people will be alert, but.............

I have just been informed by my daughter that York Hospital have informed all staff that scammers are telephoning to tell people they have been in contact with covid-19 and need to be tested, then asking for payment of £50 for compulsory testing. They are also insisting there are penalties for not paying for a test - to pressure people into giving their card details.

Testing is of course free and a test isn't compulsory - only self isolating is compulsory.

They will try and take advantage of any situation.

Scumbags!! Thanks for the HU Graham, just cannot stand these people who think they can make a living by stealing money. Most likely they are from another country where our police cannot take any action should they be traced.

Regards
Nigel.

Thankyou Graham.

I've been plagued by calls over the past few days purporting to come from:

Visa card advising me that a large sum of money has been spent "in the last 15 minutes..."

and

Amazon Prime regarding membership I don't have.

What a shame we don't have the old stocks in town centres; we could put these gits into them and give decent folk a chance to get a bit of their own back!

I've got my old Police Whistle which I keep by the phone and I stimulate their ear drums with it.

Thanks for the HU, Graham
In this global network, won't be long before it comes to a town near you.

Been thinking about investing in an air horn.

They tried to scam an old lady I keep an eye on by me. Said they were HMRC and were going to arrest her for Tax Fraud, she was to press one and speak to them. despite all I have said to her she did. Fortunately she did not give them any more details than her name and address. Should have been more sympathetic but I gave her a rocket hoping it will sink in. This was just yesterday.
