Not happy with the prop and glass transparency, and some vis code still isn't working for some reason, but overall I'm pleased with the progress.
Textures are just the basic albedo (diffuse) map, no bump or metallic maps yet.
What MSFS material mode are you using for the prop discs Dave?

I think I went with "standard" in the end. I'll have to double check though. Problem is, PNG doesn't support alpha channel, but has the transparency as the background. If you load a bitmap format that has an alpha into Blender the exporter converts it to PNG and you loose the alpha.
I'm still not happy with the prop disc, looks crap. :(
Have you tried the atest version of the exporter? When I tried it I lost all animations in the exported model. Had to go back to the previous version. Not sure if it's something at my end, or if the exporter is messed up. :dunno:

Dave, I don't know if its relevant, But I was having a real problem with transparencies too. I've just discovered when I was linking the texture to the window on one of the models in Blender, I'd assigned the albedo texture (translucent_sky_glass.jpg) but if you scroll a bit further down you get the option to set the render mode to "Blend" rather than "Opaque" which has given me glass... at last.

Trying to, badly. Using my old Sketchup Models which is proving a challenge. Fortunately I've loads of source material from back when I did it first time round, so if I ever get the hang of Blender, I'll remake all the models. More and more buildings on the airfield are being demolished, so trying to place them is getting harder.

What date are the orthophotos you're using? What is their resolution? I have some from 2002 at 25cm.

Using Bing aerial images to line up with the Sim and I’ve got bucket loads of photos taken by a guy who was a surveyor back in ‘96. In addition I’ve the Wings over Thurleigh book.

There are a few gaps though. Not much in the way of photos of the two cats, the raised one in particular. None of the arrester kit on the 3rd runway and none of any radar... I know there was at least one. So quite a bit of poetic license and crap modelling skills :cpu:
