I decided to do a experiment in comparing scenery between the different sims and real life, so for this first test I decided to focust on a local tourist spot not far from where I live, the Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California. Here is the data:
FSX with Orbx Global and Vector
Pretty Basic
P3Dv5 with Orbx Nortern California Region
Better but not much
P3Dv5 with Orbx True Earth Northern California
Looks more like the city but the boardwalk is a bit cartoonish.
XPlane 11 Default Scenery
Atmospherics in comparison seams over done to the point everything seams washed out. But more like a plausible city that FSX, better than I expected.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
What needs to be said.

Joe Cusick,
I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

Brilliant comparison Joe! Those high detailed areas are simply stunning.
I need to do some more flying, but I was up until 03:00 this morning trying to get SketchUp models to go into my scenery... with no success, so early night tonight and I’ll have another go tomorrow.

Great,Joe!
There's no words, to me....20/18/08 is the zero year. MSFS is the new standard.
