Quite true, Joe, though the 27 was based on the 23, and AFAIK the main difference was the large underwing gun pods for ground attack role. You picked up a less prominent difference.
OK, the long pitot is very noticeable, but it wasn't in the cropped picture which I posted, so it wasn't evident.

...and here's a "MiG 27", which in my book of cutaways is labelled as a 23BN
