A friend of mine posted this pic on FB of his parents arriving at Ronaldsway IOM 60 years ago for their honeymoon. Anyone have any idea on the aircraft and airline?

Looks like a Bristol 170 Freighter to me. Silver City Airways were an independant UK airline. They used the Freighters to transport pax and cars.

Thanks chaps, his parents couldn’t even remember where they flew from but I knew the collective would come up trumps. Resistance is futile

We also flew to the IOM in June 1960 on our honeymoon. Arrived in style in a Viscount from Heathrow.

I forgot to mention to my young bride, that it was TT week.

It is interesting, I also married in 1960, but we couldn't afford to fly anywhere :$

Hi Geoff.
I'm fairly certain the Aircraft is a mk.21
This link shows a picture of G-AIFV, which I can't say if it is or isn't the exact Bristol freighter in your photo.
There are differences in the livery. The white lines, for instance, with-in the blue strip where Silver City is placed start only inches behind the Y . The white lines on G-AIFV start more than a foot after the Y.
And the horizontal stripes on the vertical tail are not the same..
I can't post the photo here because it is ©

The following link shows all of the aircraft Silver City flew..
Scroll down and you'll see a list of the freighters they flew by tail number and years used.
