Yes, I've had something like that that a couple of times over there. One time, I was driving from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg and stopped at a roadside eatery. The waitress seemed quite enchanted with my accent and eventually summoned up the courage to ask me what part of Australia I came from.

I have to say that in my earlier days in the Colonies, I found the natives listening more to how I said things than what I actually said. That was not necessarily a detriment, especially in high school after The Beatles came along. Then everything British topped the popularity charts and certainly helped in meeting girls. Like Paul, there were some errors in identification of my "accent" ranging from Boston to Australia. If asked, I always responded "Bulgaria" just for a bit of fun. Occasionally I was told "You speak English very well" as a result.

Seems that Shakespear never met Nostradamus, otherwise we might see "Trump-loving mask-denier" in there, too.

btw, I looked up "unchin-snoted" as I couldn't imagine what snoted may be. According to another similar list, it is missing a "u"; snouted makes sense, especially with unchin meaning hedgehog.
Hope you don't mind this comment, but at least it proves that I read and took notice of your post.
