Flying the Prince's DH-83 Fox Moth

So interested in Dave Hadfield's flying commentary with the Lysander I went back onto You Tube to see if there were any more videos by him. Sure enough there are and this is definitely worth watching, done with what appears to be his humorous way of describing parts of the aircraft.

I joined the U.K. Fire service in the late seventies and the tenders all carried what was called a light portable pump. Basically a car engine with a pump bolted on and fixed into a carrying frame. Not light by any means and started by wrapping stout cord around the fly pulley and giving it a good yank.
There was a lot of tickling and pulling on cold mornings to get those started.

Was that fire pump engine a Coventry Climax? If so they fitted those in Hillman Imps.....more happy(?) days taking them in & out to change head gaskets & drive shaft doughnuts!!!

They were indeed Coventry Climax engines. By the time I retired the light portable pumps were fitted with batteries, starter motors and became a four person lift under the H&S regs.
