Is this the ultimate in begging for praise?

I recently paid my monthly mobile/internet bill.
I received a thank you email, saying that the payment had been processed.
Next day I received another email, asking for feedback under the heading "How did we do?" :dunno:

This happens frequently.

I recently replaced my computer chair only to discover the new chair was damaged. I'm still trying to contact the company for a replacement part and have already received a feedback survey on the product - which I haven't been able to use.

In my career I did a lot of work on "quality" initiatives in government. One concept that has stuck with me to this day is based on a simple question: "what are you going to do with the data (or feedback) I give you."

Unfortunately too many companies or institutions rely on computer technology, and don't even look at much less use the responses on such surveys. There is never follow-up on constructive criticism.

At least they’re giving you the option for feedback. Yes it’s all just a numbers game and they may not read every comment, but it’s better than nothing.
