Speedy delivery!

On 10th June, I placed an on-line order for a 3D printer.
Came home on 11th June to find it sitting on the back doorstep!
I've done some lessons on line over the past several days.
Haven't opened the box yet, domestic tasks taking priority.

Living in the outback as you do, that's a very good delivery service, Mike. What are you going to 3D print ?

I wonder if he's going to make parts for his reproduction Hurricane cockpit? *-)

Indeed, Paul, especially since they said 3-4 days in the suburbs, and longer for regional buyers.
Brian is right, I hope to upgrade the current food cans used as instrument cases to something a bit more up-market. tbh, I, and commercial museums have been quite happy with the job I did on disguising the cans, but now that this technology has squeezed into my financial limits, I took the plunge while the sale was on. Got the Ender 3 V2 upgrade plus 5 x 1Kg PLA filament for AU$500.
There are also some eye pieces for navigational instruments that rotted, and I plan to print replacements for those. Those bits will be marked as reproduction; I'm not planning to cheat anyone.
Just checking the clock, 23:37 local, and the printer is assembled except for the wiring. Should get the bed levelling test done tomorrow. :excited:

Mike, be sure to post some pictures of what your making. It sounds very interesting.

 Me first, Den *-) but if they're as lumpy as the test print from last night, I'm not rushing to be at the front of the queue :|

This 3D printing is going slowly.
It's rather like modelling aircraft for FS, and though my immediate needs are quite simple, I'm having to learn Blender.
On top of this, there's adjustable printing speed, layer thicknesses, and getting the printer set up to produce consistent results.
For instance, last night I lowered the Z axis cut off switch, so I could get more tension on the printing table adjusting screw springs.
Tonight, a test object which I made in Blender, apparently exported to the printer software but was too small to observe in that view.
Have to go back and scale it up, but I've hit the wall for now. :stupid:

I needed an eyepiece for my Recorder Drift Sight.
Drew one in Blender.
This is my first, as yet unfinished, project off the 3d printer.

Finished printing, next to Recorder Drift Sight:

One face roughened up, first quick test to see if I can make it look like moulded sponge rubber:

Nearly midnight, will do more tomorrow.
