Get Ready Windows 11 on the Way.

The good news is that Windows 11 will be available as a free update to existing Windows 10 users
but don't expect too much as the new operating system is based on the code of Windows 10, which should prevent upgrade glitches such as those seen in the past with Windows Vista.

I would imagine that w11 will be a prerequisite of using msfs when it lands. What with the store, gaming app and everything else Microsoft throws at us

It’s basically just a rebrand of the planned Windows 10 Fall 2021 update. It’s the same Windows 10 Codebase underneath and the changes are cosmetic, albeit some of the programs (apps) are more integrated (in appearance at least). The Autumn (fall) update this year was always going to be a meaty one, it’s been in the pipeline for years. Not too much to worry about. And if you don’t fancy the free upgrade, you’ve got another 4 years of Windows 10.

One thing I've seen on other sites is the requirement for TPM (Trusted Platform Module). Most recent PC should be OK, but it may need enabling in the BIOS (may also be called PTT or fTPM). You can download the Win11 compatibility checking app here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11
My PC originally failed the test until I enabled TPM in the BIOS.

Thanks Dave, ran the Win11 compatibility and mine is OK though I don't know about Babs' laptop, she has had it for about 5 years now so when I get it out I will check it out.

That’s only if your motherboard has a TPM module. They are almost standard on business laptops, not common on anything that shipped with the “home” version of Windows 10. Very uncommon on desktop computers, even recent business ones. Older devices that do have the module will be version 1.2. Newer kit, last 4 years maybe, will be version 2.0 of TPM.
Some desktop motherboards have a TPM header on the board to connect a TPM module to, but, tbh, I’ve never seen a module for sale (but tbh haven’t really looked).
