Rather sad that it wasn't more successful. I watched a Qantas one from the fence at Heathrow, and while not the prettiest aircraft ever built, it was certainly imposing.

Very sad

. I was lucky enough to fly LHR -SIN (9V-SKB) and SIN - LHR (9V-SKF), in business class. It's an absolutely outstanding aircraft to fly on. So quiet inside and so large, that it takes a lot of turbulence to give you a bumpy ride. I can see why it's so popular and only wish it had been more commercially successful. Emirates plan to keep them in service for many years to come and I look forward to their twice daily services to Birmingham (BHX/EGBB) returning once this pandemic is over (currently flown by B777-300's).

A friend of mine flew from Dallas to Australia on a Qantas A380 a few years ago. He enjoyed the flight very much, and like Kevin, noticed how quiet the aircraft was in flight. The A380 definitely deserved more years than she got.

Likewise, the B747! I've flown on many (1 x B747-100 and several B747-200's and -400's), although, sadly not on a -8i (yet). I know the 747 has had a much longer career than the A380, but it's still sad to see production end (an aircraft I always thought would be around forever). I'd hoped that the -8i would have sold more. Whichever version you flew on, you knew you were on something special. She certainly earned the name 'Queen of the Skies'.

I am genuinely envious, Kevin - that great aircraft
and Singapore Airlines too! I used to fly quite regularly with SIA, including once on a Boeing 727, and they are my absolute favourite airline.

If that is the very last aircraft to come off the production line what else is there for the company?
I am rather surprised that the A380 did not have as much in the way of sales as the 747 enjoyed, rather sad.
Regards
Nigel.

It's the last A380, Nigel. All the other Airbus models are still being produced and developed.

To put it in perspective , it was because it couldn't carry as much cargo as 747, and was 30yrs too late..4 engined airliners are on the way due to costs ( both fuel burn and maintenance of 4 engines)

I think it sold more than the 747-8 did it not?
I’m not a massive fan of either tbh. They’re impressive to watch in the air, but just not my bag at all.
