Wordle

Post by TSR2 »

Just came across this today. Very enjoyable in the same cane as Mikes mysterious aircraft pictures.

I’ve managed to get it after the 6th attempt and only when I twigged you could reuse letters 😂

Hope you enjoy it

Thanks for this Ben. I just tried it but didn’t quite manage it first time. It’s similar in principle to the 1970s board game ‘Mastermind’ which uses 4 different coloured pegs hidden behind a plastic cover. One player sets the pegs and the other has 12 attempts to work out the order using more pegs, the result being indicated each time by the marker. I’m sure I’ve still got it somewhere, it’s very absorbing. There was an ever harder version using 5 different coloured pegs!
I’ll definitely be trying this online game again. EricT

Yes, thanks Ben.
I was lost for my first three tries because the way I read the introduction, I thought they were telling us that the first letter was "W" and the other two were: 1 in the wrong spot, 1 not in the word at all. I got confused as W came up black. Now I understand, I may do better :$ :dunno:

BTW, on the subject of words, I read what was supposed to be a reproduction of a letter by R.J.Mitchell; it included the expression "fuse a large"
Elsewhere, a reference to spinning was presented as "spending". Oh, dear.

Thanks for posting this, Ben. Got two correct letters in the correct place, and one correct letter but in the wrong place. That's as close as I got to solving the puzzle.

Another clue...you can play the same game twice using Google Chrome. After losing the first game, right-click on the link to Wordle and select the option 'open link in incognito window'. I promise you'll do much better on the second time round.
