I've suffered only 2 or 3 crash to desktops with MSFS over the last 18 months, the most recent being before Christmas with the then latest Nvidia driver which it turned out had a known issue.
So last week, I started having some odd experiences. I would click the icon to launch the some and after a few seconds I'd get a message box saying "The parameter is incorrect" and it would close. On another two occasions I went to start a flight (after loading the sim) and it would just CTD.
The "the parameter is incorrect" message has been consistent every time until I do a restart. If I do a shut down, then switch the machine back on, I'd get the same error. If I restart it was fine.
So today I installed the Nvidia Geforce Studio driver (clean install) and surprise, no more errors. Could it be that a lot of the problems are Nvidia software related?

Re: MSFS and NVidia Drivers
I've heard before that the studio drivers are much more stable. I expect the game drivers are probably faster, although I highly doubt you'd be able to tell the difference without benchmarking. I've always put any CTDs down to bugs but it may be worth trying the studio drivers.
