Broken?
There's something wrong with our OAT thermometer
It keeps showing just single whole digits even when the sun is up...5.4, 6.2 etc.
I've tried new batteries, but there's no change

Re: Broken?
Errrm....it's called winter Mike. If you wait 3 months things might start to improve. Just think yourself lucky, when we go through that our temps have a minus sign in front of them with double digits following that for about 4 months!

Re: Broken?
Don't worry Mike, it is probably just a Scottish thermometer. Ours stays about that level 12 months a year. I think they just paint the numbers on.
Like our weather forecasts, if they get caught out the standard fallback is rain/clouds for the west/(or any other region) for the coming days/weeks.
cheers,
Allan
About our only cheery point of the night time news is watching Iain Blackford put the boot into the Prime Criminal at every opportunity.

Thanks for the explanation lads.
I'll retreat a bit further down the burrow.

Re: Broken?
'5.4 and 6.2' are not 'single whole digits'. Single whole digits implies integers and would be '5 and 6' etc.

Re: Broken?
Integers, Integers, sounds much better when one knows what one is talking about
Anyway, the Bureau of Meteorology, who aren't that busy looking for meteors, often fill in their time with weather reports; and they say it's been our coldest start to Winter for 70 years.
I won't buy into your "PC" debate, we've had enough blatant lies from our own government to keep us going for a while.

Re: Broken?
No, I don't either but I do agree with Allan that Iain Blackford is always worth watching. There are buffoons on all sides of the House but this chap is the 'Clown Prince' of them.
