This helpful little song should clarify any confusion over gender identity. Sing to the tune of ‘ If You’re Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands’ EricT

If a person has a penis he’s a man
If a person has a penis he’s a man
If he doesn’t want to lose it
Even though he doesn’t use it
If a person has a penis he’s a man
If a person has a nutsack he’s a man
If a person has a nutsack he’s a man
He can tuck it to conceal it
Let it dangle and reveal it
If a person has a nutsack he’s a man
If he amputates his bits he’s still a man
If he grows a pair of t*ts he’s still a man
If the chromosome’s a Y
He will always be a guy
If he isn’t born a woman he’s a man

I totally agree!
As a Scientist, for me the definition of Man or Woman is totally down to genetic information. Unfortunately these days, it seems to hold such views is taboo and anyone disagreeing with the new looney woke definitions are going to get hounded.
I saw a YouTube video a few days ago where someone stated that 'gender isn't assigned at birth'! I totally agree, gender is assigned at conception!
On a slightly different note and for the benefit of vegetarians, the pig that my bacon, sausages and black pudding were sourced from identified as a lettuce. So, that should be alright.

I have to say that I'm coming across numerous younger people who are quite happy to live in no man's land, or just as happily identify as the opposite gender to their physical form.

There have been same sex attractions since the year dot, and there are parts of the World where there is a large proportion of the population of physically indeterminate gender. They accept it as quite normal.
We are what our minds dictate, and I believe that we identify everything around us by reference to our personal standards and experience.
Some people grow up merrily eating dogs, whilst others refuse to eat x,y or z.
I don't think it's impossible for a person to feel that they are in the "wrong" body. Anyway, if they are doubtful of their gender, maybe it's a good thing, Nature's way of reducing our overcrowding of the Planet.

To me, it's immaterial. I simply don't care about gender identity ( if that's still the correct term) nor am I interested in the debate. As long as you're happy and leave others to be happy too, be what you wish. Don't expect me to change my pronouns, though.

Agree Paul, while its not my bag (so to speak) you can identify as a Martian if you like, I have no problem with it. However, I absolutely won't use pronouns, I'll use your name. And also one can't swim out of the gene pool, so when it comes to certain things, (sport, medicine etc) its you genetic gender that's the thing. There are plenty of people who don't like living in their bodies, but just have to get on with it. Whether that's down to disability, mental health, etc, and they are perfectly happy with their gender.

On the matter of identity.
Did you know you can distinguish an alligator from a crocodile by paying attention to whether the animal sees you later or in a while.
