Now that Canada has arrived, it was time to pick up from my break in Cold Bay and head over towards Anchorage international. Given how green it had been when I arrived I was a little surprised to see the first snow had fallen when I got to the aircraft.

Great pictures - you can almost hear the snow crunching under the tyres in that second one. Come to think of it, I pretty certain I've never seen any snow in this sim. Obviously not during this RTW trip, but not in any of the other flying I've done, either.

Its a funny one Paul, in the winter months everything gets covered, and not always realistically. I understand how and why its difficult to do even half well, but the way I look at it, its better than anything we had before. 😊

So this afternoon (early morning Western Canada), I set off on the next leg from Anchorage (PANC) to Abbotsford (CYXX).
I had some disconnect and reconnects every few minutes while I was taxiing out which was bloody annoying, but it settled down once U got airborne. it was rather nippy at the gate so I needed to use the cold start setting to get the engines in the 146 to fire up. Once we were up and running it looked as though the sky was on fire.

T's and P's all good so off we go.

I did a complete reinstall if MSFS prior to this flight, and forgot to change the graphics settings so this is all with what MSFS decided I should have had.

I was hoping for ILS RW 07, but instead got visual 25, so had to go across the tops of the mountains while ATC when a little odd and cleared me for one alt and then immediately cleared me 1500ft higher that it just had. All very strange.

I must admit Ben those are cracking shots you have posted are they in 4K? I'm sure mine don't match that and your clouds seem so much better than mine!! :poke:

Still messing about with the settings taking each one bit by bit though also changing VR Settings as well. Have a lot on at the moment but very well may buy the 146 at some point, at least it does not have the dreaded glass cockpit which I hate as much as you do for the 737!!

Nigel.

Glad you like them Nigel. I got rid of my 4K monitor in favour of a 2K one which I find much easier on my eyes. i find my eyes straining too much with 4k.

The strange thing with these settings are that they are out of the box. I completely formatted my FS drive and reinstalled MSFS from scratch. I forgot to alter any of the default setting before that flight, so the settings are just whatever MSFS thought they should be, which I was really surprised at. I didn't realise until I'd landed.

Yes some great shots there Ben. It goes to show that you can get hung up about tweaking the setting for what you think are the optimal.
I really like the 146 and I should fly it more often. Everything about it is just right. Yes the old style gauges are fine by me but I must admit I need the mcdu. Using simbrief as my planner, it's a prerequisite really.

So then you may be able to increase some settings, I am doing the same, re-set to default settings and now altering certain graphics bit by bit. Now have clouds at ultra setting and seems as though there are no problems so far fingers crossed.

Nigel.
