Re: Returning the ZAP
Great pics, particularly that first one - the pushback in the dark. Can you remember which VOR in Taiwan was faulty ? I'll be heading up that way myself at some point.
Re: Returning the ZAP
Hi Paul,
Sorry, yes. It was HCN 113.7. It all seems a bit hit and miss over Asia Pacific.

Re: Returning the ZAP
Seems there are quite a few reporting the wrong range Paul.
I left Taiwan earlier heading up to Amami on the north of the Island. Imagine my surprise when having lined up on approach I didn't get the usual handoff to contact the tower... because in MSFS there is no tower frequency, its uncontrolled... with ILS
The real place definitely looks like it would be worth a visit though.

Re: Returning the ZAP
Just tried HCN out in the Optica, and it works fine for me - picked it up at 37.5 nm as expected.
Re: Returning the ZAP
I wonder if its an altitude thing. I’ve been really hit and miss tonight on my way into Tokyo at the moment. I’m getting 1 in 3 as a rule of thumb. As an aside most of Japan seems to be TACAN.
Ben.
Re: Returning the ZAP
Which scenery library is active in your Little Nav Map, Ben ? With 'Do not use Navigraph database' selected, it's almost all VORs in Japan - I can't see a single TACAN. This sounds like the problem I had - Little Nav Map using the Navigraph database that comes with it, while the simulator itself uses its own, sometimes different database.
Re: Returning the ZAP
I wonder if that's it Paul. Tonight's approach was horrendous into Tokyo from an ATC point of view. I was all over the place between the SIM and LNM.
[EDIT] You've hit the nail on the head. I've just switched of Navigraph Database in LNM and the world looks very different!
So, here are tonight pictures.

Re: Returning the ZAP
Two for the price of one in this update.
last night I went from Tokyo up to Nakashibetsu. this was the Northern most airport in Japan that had ILS... Unfortuantely, it turned out to be another uncontrolled airport, and not much to see once we got there.
So this afternoon I left Nakashibetsu for the longish trek up to Shemya Island and the Eareckson Air Station. A nice bit of history of it here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eareckson_Air_Station
A fairly long and uneventful flight ensued with not much to see on the way, but I was looking forward to seeing the tiny island.
I thought I'd show you the nice touch that JF have put in with the sun shade.
Just beside the co-pilots seat under the window, you'll see a dark rectangle. If you click on it, he presto...
it clips into the rails above the window and you can slide it round to your chosen position to keep the sun out
So now I'm descending, and flying over the first of the Island in the chain and it looks very.... green.
And now I know why... there's no photo scenery up here, so I've landed back in FSX

Re: Returning the ZAP
Yes, very FSX. Nakashibetsu to Shemya is a long haul by the look of it, but it meant you avoided Russia. By the way, I see there is a big update coming for the 146 soon.
