FSA Client 2.5.1 and MSFS2020

Post by TSR2 »

Hi all, I've been trying again since I rebuilt the PC last month (fresh install of MSFS2020).

I had been having a problem where after installing FSUIPC, would only start from a warm boot so I would have to boot the PC, wait for it to start up and then restart it (warm boot) before the Sim would launch.

On the rebuilt PC I had avoided installing FSUIPC given the problems it had given me before, and everything was working really well, but I am still unable to use the FSA Client.

I downloaded FSUIPC this morning and I have it installed (but not set to automatically launch with the SIM as this is what has cause problems before). I'm clicking on the FSUIPC icon which then launches the SIM and everything starts up. The other Sim Connect programs work (such as FSLTL and LNM).

When I launch FSA, it starts fine and can see my booked flight, but doesn't see the sim running using Automatic, FSUIPC or Simconnect.
I do have the .net 2, 3 and 3.5 options installed.

Any ideas? Its not quite the same without FSA. Has anyone recently reinstalled the sim and using FSA?

Windows 11 (current updates), MSFS2020 SU10 (NOT Beta)

Hi Ben
I think I've said before I don't use Fsuipc only using FSA standalone. I guess it works through simconnect How it finds simconnect I don't know. It must read it through the registry (it's not in the FSA folder.
I can post a shot of my FSA folder structure if it helps. My msfs is via the store, not steam if that makes any difference.

Cheers Dale, that would be a big help. It’s just really odd when FSLTL and LNM work. I’ll try anything

Out of curiosity Dale, are you on Windows 11?

As little nav maps and the traffic addon find it, its strange that FSA doesnt
See if you can find the FSA Debug file. Mine tells me the this :-

Cheers Dale.

I've uninstalled FSA and removed all references to it from the registry, restarted.
Do you have .net framework 2.0 - 3.5 installed?

On the client install screen these are the options I'm taking (default program folder and the installer is run as administrator)

Also, when I start it, I have been starting the client after I have selected "ready to fly" and I'm actually in the cockpit.

Not sure about .net files, I'd have to check
The install checkboxes look OK There's not much in the way of options anyway
I start the client once in the cockpit. Any earlier sometimes gives wrong airport etc once you click fly
Have you found the debug file? Should tell you if its found simconnect

Tried again with the SDK uninstalled, but still no joy. I might try a rebuild again and not install the SDK as it may leave something behind in the Windows System area.

Re: FSA Client 2.5.1 and MSFS2020

Post by Vc Ten »

Hmm I think that it's more to do with win 11 than anything else. The debug shows wrong version of simconnect dll A thread on FSA forum https://forum.fsairlines.net/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=10111 (maybe you've read it) Joe says simconnect works differently now (he says in Msfs) but as we know it works fine in win 10, so it could be the way it's handled in win 11/msfs Why little nav maps works :dunno:
Maybe persevere with Fsuipc? I have the SDK installed without issues
