I tried it on Sunday Dale and it kept the size at 28GB. Its almost as though they were already at 2k 🤔

Well it all works fine. I Reduced the number of spawned aircraft and the radius a bit. Tried at Gatwick No stutters at all. Will have to test further.
Yes Ben, the original folder size is 28 gig (thought it was more than that), but selecting 2048 in the optimizer command line, its reduced to just under 10gig

I've dropped them down to 1K & the final size is 3Gb.

Does it make a significant difference Dave?

Can't say I noticed a huge difference to be honest, but then I hadn't used it much beforehand. No sense wasting resources though.

Are either of you using Windows 11? I tried again tonight, this time with 1024. It runs through, creates the optimized directory, but it doesn't resize anything....

Code: Select all

END FILE WARNINGS #################################################################################
RUN TIME FOR PROCESSING: 00:08:57
TOTAL IMAGES PROCESSED: 1765
IMAGES RESIZED: 0
TOTAL SIZE OF INPUT FILES PROCESSED: 28 GB
TOTAL SIZE OF OUTPUT FILES PROCESSED: 28 GB

D:\Purchases\TextureOptomiser>textureoptimizer -source E:\MSFS\Community\fsltl-traffic-base\SimObjects\Airplanes -resolution 1024

Yep, using Win 11. Works fine here. :dunno:
Have you already got an -OPTIMIZED folder from a previous attempt? I don't think it will overwrite existing files, so if you have, delete, rename or move it out.

I assume you've installed the other 2 programs it requires? (Texconv and compressionator)

Hi Dave,

No, I deleted the original optimised one from the weekend, and both the other two components are installed… I wonder if it’s because I ran it from an elevated command prompt, I’ll try again as a normal user.
