TSR2,

Thank you for your answers on Nimrod's air force bases and for your suggestion on freeware Scotflight sceneries. Although I do see few ones on avsim and flightsim, I am unable to find any air force base by Scotflight for use of FSX.

Motormouse,

Thank you for more answers on Nimrod's air force bases

the sneaky beaky R1’s
Motormouse and TSR2,

Ok ok ok I have to ask question. What is exactly so secretive and controversial about R1?? Is it special engine??

Oh yes both of you can laugh at me for my stupid question about R1 being a special engine.

Aharon

Ben,

Thank you for your very kind offer and now I feel more encouraged and brave to try to install Nimrod package from Rikooo.

The R1 was the intelligence gathering version that information about was understandably kept very quite about. Stacked full of electronic eavesdropping equipment.

That sounds interesting and fun. Does your Nimrod package include R1 or is it still secret under Official Act law meaning you cannot get photos or blueprints from RAF to make R1 model base?

I wonder if it is R1 that participated in most bizarre combat action called Icelandic Cod Wars of 1972 and 1975–1976 or is it other Nimrod model base??

The R1 was included in the package and it was the MR1 that participated in the Cod War

Am I right in thinking that Tonks flew Nimrods?

Am I reading correctly from the Internet sources that the realistic cruising speed of the Nimrod is mach 0.69?

Probably about right. So many things sticking out into the airstream amounted to a lot of drag. I've heard stories of various ATC controllers querying 'are you sure you're a four ship?'
