How To Get 737-200 From England To New Zealand??
Shalom and greetings all,
Since Air New Zealand leased a 737-200 from Brittina airline, I am really curious to know how the Brittina airline got its 737-200 from England to New Zealand which was far far far far far far away.
Wondering where did that plane make many refuel stopovers during the delivery route from England to New Zealand??
Regards,
Aharon

several fuel stops and probably nearly a week to make the trip
Old pilots never die, they just run out of runway.

So many possibilities.
What is the endurance of the 737-200 when fairly empty? I'll have a look at some options.
It will definitely involve going South East from UK, it doesn't have easy transatlantic range, and pretty certainly not trans Pacific range.

Adysmith,
Yes you are correct about your statements but I want to know exactly where Brittina Airways 737-200 made few refuel stopovers during delivery flight of the leased plane from England to New Zealand.

Aharon

Aharon For what I can find out Britannia Airways transferred (think they were sold not leased) three 737 200 airframes to Air New Zealand
G-BHWB ZK-NAB Sir Sydney Camm
G-BHWF. ZK-NAI Lord Brabazon of Tara
G-BJCT. ZK-NAA Hon C. S. Rolls, lsd
Trying hard to find any stories of the actual ferry routes, although there's lots of into from original Britannia flight crews regarding their memories of the airline

Looks like G-BHWF was leased to ANZ between mid-January and the end of April 1988, Dale, keeping its UK registration and then returning to Britannia until 1993 when it was sold along with G-BHWE (not WB) and G-BJTC to ANZ.

Yes, you're right Pete Not sure how I missed it The aircraft was leased to Air New Zealand before returning to Britannia then sold on to ANZ in 93.
G-BHWE (typo ) was leased to Airtours before returning to the Britannia fleet again later sold to ANZ

Which does raise the interesting question of how they got an aeroplane with around 3000 statute miles (2.6K NM) max range there and back. I guess there are different rules for ferry flights without passengers but, presumably, they'd still want decent reserves for possible diversions etc.
